KEY FEATURES

Class B+ AIS Transponder

AIT5000 is a Class B+ AIS transponder. It uses the new AIS standard using SOTDMA technology and has a power of 5W instead of 2W. SOTDMA technology is also used by AIS Class A transponders and so the AIT5000 has the same priority when it comes to reserving a slot, ensuring that it is always able to transmit.

The transmission speed is up to every 5 sec instead of 30 sec. This new technology is therefore useful for sailors who need the best possible performance, for very fast motorboats and also for non-commissioned commercial vessels.

Integrated Antenna VHF Splitter

The AIT5000 incorporates a certified zero-loss VHF antenna splitter, enabling the main VHF antenna to be shared safely between the AIS transponder, the VHF radio and the FM radio. Thanks to this technology, there is no loss of signal or data, guaranteeing optimum performance for all the equipment connected.

You connect the main VHF antenna directly to the AIT5000, which then redistributes the signal to your VHF radio using the coaxial cable supplied.

Wi-Fi Interface

AIT5000 creates a secure, password-protected local Wi-Fi network on board your boat. This Wi-Fi network enables AIS, GPS and NMEA 0183 data to be transmitted to navigation software for PC, Mac and Linux, as well as to popular iOS and Android applications such as NavionicsTZ iBoat, Weather4D, SailGrib, iNavX, iSailor, OpenCPN, TimeZero and many others.

Compatible with all navigation software and applications, AIT5000 displays AIS targets directly on charts in real time. Up to 7 devices can connect simultaneously to its Wi-Fi network.

Depending on the application used, it is possible to click on a target to access detailed information, and some applications or software are capable of automatically calculating CPA (Closest Point of Approach) and TCPA (Time to Closest Point of Approach) collision alarms.

NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 & USB Interfaces

In addition to its Wi-Fi interface, the AIT5000 also has several interfaces: NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 & USB – hence the name Nucleus, as it becomes the heart of the onboard electronic system.

The AIT5000 can transmit AIS targets to any MFD/chartplotter with an NMEA 0183 or 2000 interface, and it can also transmit the GPS position to a VHF radio.

NMEA Multiplexer

Thanks to the built-in NMEA 0183 multiplexer, AIT5000 can also receive data from other systems and instruments connected via an NMEA 0183 interface. This information is then combined and transmitted via the AIT5000’s Wi-Fi interface.

AIT5000’s bi-directional Wi-Fi allows not only AIS and GPS data to be transmitted, but also data from instruments connected to its NMEA 0183 input. It is also possible to send data from navigation applications or software to other marine equipment, such as an autopilot.

By adding an iKonvert NMEA2000/NMEA0183 converter, the AIT5000 will be able to send all the data on a NMEA 2000 network over Wi-Fi. Navigation applications and software are not compatible with NMEA 2000 data without prior conversion.

Passive GPS Antenna

Supplied with a robust GPS antenna, this Class B+ AIS transponder provides fast and reliable position acquisition, which is essential for the AIS transponder to function correctly.

The GPS position can also be transmitted to other connected equipment via the NMEA interface.

EASY CONFIGURATION

To make it easier to use and configure our AIS transponders, our AIT5000 now has an integrated web interface. The transponder can be configured from a computer, tablet or even a smartphone and, most importantly, no programming software or applications are required.

You can configure AIT5000 via its own web interface (no internet connection required). Simply open your web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla, etc.), enter the AIT5000’s IP address (which is always 192.168.1.1) and you can configure the vessel details (MMSI number, vessel name, etc.), Wi-Fi network name, password and even merge the AIS Wi-Fi with an existing Wi-Fi network on board. You can even stop AIS transmission from the web interface.

Finally, the AIT5000 supports TCP and UDP network protocols for maximum application compatibility.

ABOUT SOTDMA

Class B+ is a new generation of AIS transponders based on the SOTDMA transmission system rather than the CSTDMA (Carrier Sense TDMA) system. This ensures that AIS will always transmit even in high traffic areas. In addition, an AIS Class B+ transponder has a transmission power of 5W (instead of 2W) and transmission frequencies increase with boat speed. With a conventional Class B transponder, the transmission frequency is every 30 seconds when the boat is moving.
