Atlas 2 Vakaros Sailing instrument

NavLink Blue – NMEA 2000 Bluetooth interface

NMEA 2000 starter kit

Smart Sensor – Depth Speed Temp transducer

Wind sensor with NMEA 0183 interface

WND100 – Wind sensor with NMEA 2000 interface

KEY FEATURES

This high-performance sailing instrument pack integrates the Vakaros Atlas 2 sailing instrument with a full range of sensors for boat speed, depth, temperature and wind. The system is based on NMEA 2000 connectivity and Bluetooth. You can connect additional sensors and send all navigation data wirelessly to third-party navigation apps (NMEA Remote).

The pack also includes NavLink Blue for connecting Atlas 2 from Vakaros to the NMEA 2000 network, so you can get depth and other key sailing data on Atlas 2 display. You can also connect additional sensors to the boat network and the Atlas 2, such as Calypso wireless wind sensor.

Vakaros Atlas 2 is a high-performance sailing instrument offering high precise positioning with up to 25 cm accuracy. Unlike traditional GPS devices that rely only on the L1 signal, it receives both L1 and L5 GPS signals. While L1 provides standard positioning, the newer L5 signal improves precision and reliability, especially in challenging sailing environments.

Atlas 2 also delivers highly accurate heading information, with a resolution of 0.1°. This is made possible by a next-generation magnetic sensor that is four times more sensitive than typical sensors. Combined with gyro stabilization and a high-speed motion fusion algorithm operating at 50 Hz, the Atlas 2 maintains a stable and accurate heading even in difficult conditions.

In addition to its navigation capabilities, the Atlas 2 features a long-lasting battery that provides over 100 hours of continuous use. It can also be recharged wirelessly, making it convenient for extended sailing events such as multi-day regattas or long-distance races.

Also included into the solution is our sailing instrumentation pack based on NMEA 2000 connectivity.

Included into this solution is the DST810 depth, speed and temperature transducer. A spatial sensor is also included for detecting pitch and roll and there’s a sophisticated algorithm for calibrating boat speed information based on heel.

You can also add the WND100 wind sensor with 20m cable and a interface to “T” directly to the NMEA 2000 backbone. It means there’s no heavy NMEA 2000 cabling to the top of the mast and no need for complex mast top terminations for the wind sensor.

Data can be shared with the Vakaros Atlas 2 via NavLink Blue interface and also with other devices on the NMEA 2000 network, like a multi-function display. A full NMEA 2000 backbone cabling pack is included.

This Vakaros sailing instrument pack also includes a NavLink Blue Vakaros edition. NavLink Blue is an innovative gateway that connects Atlas 2 directly to the boat’s NMEA 2000 network.

With it, Atlas 2 can receive and display real-time data from the NMEA 2000 network, giving users immediate access to the navigation data from the NMEA 2000 network (wind, depth, speed, etc.).

NavLink Blue is self-powered from the NMEA 2000 network. Simply connect it to the NMEA 2000 network and it is immediately operational. Pairing with Bluetooth sensors is quick and easy thanks to its web interface.

Additionally to the Vakaros screen and app, you can also check all navigation data from your tablet or smartphone via compatible navigation apps, like NMEA Remote. NavLink Blue doesn’t only connect the Vakaros Atlas 2 to the NMEA 2000 but can also send that data to your tablet and smartphone.

To share data with popular charting apps like Navionics, Savvy Navvy, iNavX, AquaMaps, TZ iBoat, etc., we recommend adding our NavLink2 NMEA 2000 to WiFi converter.

Thanks to NavLink Blue, the Atlas 2 can interface with a broader range of Bluetooth sensors, including advanced wind sensors, centerline paddlewheels, and more.

For example you can integrate a Calypso ultrasonic wind  sensor to NavLink Blue, allowing you to receive wind data directly on the NMEA 2000 network and iSeaSense web interface without having to run cables up the mast. The Calypso anemometer can be used as a backup sensor in addition to our WND100 for extra security and redundancy.

Other compatible devices and useful cases are available here.

OPERATION

You can configure your Atlas device using the Vakaros Connect application, which serves as the primary interface for device setup and customization.

Through the app, the NavLink Blue can be added as an external sensor, enabling seamless integration with the NMEA 2000 network.

Once connected, all NMEA 2000 data is transmitted and displayed directly on the Atlas device, providing real-time access to vessel information.
